Cong retains Tekkali seat in AP

Congress on Monday retained Tekkali assembly seat in the by-election, which was necessitated following the death of its MLA K Revathipathy.

Congress candidate and wife of Revathipathy, K Bharati wrestled the seat from her nearest rival Atcham Naidu of TDP with a margin of 7,173 votes.

Bharati was polled 59,250 votes as against the TDP 52,077 while, Praja Rajaym Party secured only 17,858 votes.

The by-elections was held on September 10 for Tekkali seat in Srikakulam district.
