The Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) have initiated the 'Breathe Easy' campaign with several IT companies and NGOs that aim to work towards a pollution-free Bangalore in the month ahead.
"We will address issues like traffic and pollution in the campaign," said Pampa Chowdhry, branch head, Concern India Foundation, Bangalore. "Unlike other campaigns, that are restricted to a community or group, this is a mass campaign."

"The change can't be brought overnight," explained Pampa. "But a few things can be made easier immediately.

This is the reason we have lined up some initiatives in several phases. The IT community that is a major contributor to city traffic will be involved too."
The initiative will also involve distribution of over 1 lakh road maps that detail routes taken by BMTC buses.
Over 60 corporate groups will be roped in initially for organising traffic workshops.
Citizens attending the workshops will be familiarised with the factors that contribute to traffic-chocked roads, rising pollution levels and health hazards.
The Breathe Free initiative has roped in several techies from companies like Wipro, and Infosys who have given their ideas on how to tackle pollution.
"We hope techies from these companies help us control the level of pollution through various initiatives," said AS Sadashivaiah, chairman, pollution control board.
