Michelle Obama left quite an impression, during her recent trip here with husband Barack Obama. Now French first lady Carla Bruni will do her bit by visiting HIV patients at Safdarjung Hospital on Monday.

"The French President's wife will be visiting the hospital. We are holding a meeting with the French delegation and it's difficult to reveal the details of the plan right now," said Dr NK Mohanty, Medical Superintendent, Safdarjung.

Bruni, also the goodwill ambassador of the Geneva-based Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, will visit the anti-retroviral therapy (ART) centre and the out-patients department (OPD) of the hospital to meet counsellors and HIV positive patients.

Drums of have!

The French couple were accorded a 'Jodhpuri' welcome at the Taj Palace hotel upon their arrival at the Capital. Just as the first lady headed towards the lobby, Sarkozy urged her to look at the traditional ensemble of musical instruments. On watching 'nagadas' (traditional drums) being played amidst 'mashaals' (torches), she exclaimed "this is fabulous".
