Lady luck was certainly not on his side this time. Ashok Laxman Bhagyawant (22), involved in eight housebreaking cases, was finally caught by the police.
Bhagyawant, a resident of Bhalerao Chawl, Rupinagar was nabbed by the alert Ansari family when he was on his usual business of housebreaking on Friday night. He was caught red-handed while he was rummaging through iron cupboards kept in the living room of the Ansaris, residents of Shevantiban Society in Chinchwad.

The incident took place around 11.15 pm when Abdul Quayuum Ansari and his wife Asama were returning home after watching the nearby dandiya celebrations. On reaching home, they noticed the gate of their house was wide open. They saw Bhagyawant in the living room stealing cash from their cupboard and he threatened both of them with an iron rod. By then, other members of the family and the neighbours rushed in to help the Ansaris. Bhagyawant then slipped and fell on the floor, hitting his head on the ground, and was caught.
PSI Shabbir Sayyed from Chinchwad said the residents handed over Bhagyawant to the police who was arrested under several sections of IPC, including 457, 380, 511, for housebreak and theft.
