Undergoing treatment at a Harjeevan hospital, the injured officer was stated to be out of danger. Identified as Bharat Ramchandra Bhosale (55), a residentu00a0 of Hadapsar, the injured officer was posted to the ACB a year-an-half ago from Sangli. His daughter's wedding is on May 28. Bhosale suffered injuries on his head and back in the 6.30 pm attack. The Swargate police have lodged a case against three unknown people. Police Inspector (Crime) S N Kamble from the Swargate police station said, "For a couple of days, Bhosale had been receiving calls from unknown persons who were insisting on meet him for an interview. They told Bhosale they wanted to talk to him about his work during his Sangli stint."
The police said the suspects again called Bhosale last afternoon when he was on Sinhagad Road. "Bhosale asked them to meet him near the Bank of Maharashtra on Tilak Road. They did so, and when they saw Bhosale they attacked him with a sharp weapon," said Kamble.
Bhosale said he tried to catch the attackers but failed. "They were three persons and after attacking me they fled towards Swargate. I tried to catch them but they ran away. Then I went to the Swargate police station to inform them about the incident. Some policemen there brought me to Harjeevan hospital," Bhosale said.
