On Saturday morning, Dilip Gada, who lives in Ambarnath, was woken up by a frantic call from an employee, who told him that the gunny bags that are usually kept outside the godown were missing. Sources said, “Gada was shocked because in his 25 years in the business, he had never heard of anyone stealing salt. His workers and he, then searched everywhere at the godown in Sindhi Galli to no avail.”
Sources said Gada had been keeping these bags outside the godown for years and not a single bag had been stolen before. Other traders in the area were stunned about the robbery. They feel someone took the sacks away on a handcart through the night. Senior inspector Balkrishna Wagh from Ambarnath police station said, “I haven’t received a complaint from the wholesaler yet. Once he registers the complaint we will find the culprit.” Till late Sunday, no complaint had been filed.
