10,000 register for 'Let's Pool In'
'Let's Pool In,' the joint initiative that was launched in November 2008 by Radio One and Commute Easy in Partnership with Bangalore City Traffic Police, has taken a major leap with 10,000 registrations in just a matter of six months.
The key dignitaries who spoke on the occasion were police commissioner Shankar Bidari, ACP (Traffic) Praveen Sood, theatre personality Arundhati Nag, Lead India winner RK Mishra and HP India's country manager Srihari Gopinath.
Addressing the crowd, Bidari said, "Carpooling is a great way to do your part in reducing your carbon footprint as well as reducing the amount of money you spend on petrol each day. By December we need to reach a target of one lakh car poolers, and for that I'm ready to help in any way. The day I took over my position, my first aim was to bring about smooth traffic movement and I've worked towards it."
Sood said, "We will work day in and day out to promote this initiative. I'm happy that Bangalore has taken to the idea of car pooling. It works here because it provides simple answers to a complex problem."
