Amit Bansal's life changed after a freak Metro accident. But nobody's listening
Twenty-eight-year-old Amit Bansal had a perfectly normal life till Monday. Now he is bed ridden with serious head injuries. His shop is closed as he can't move out of his bed. And the father of a four-year-old is now facing an uncertain future.
It all started on Tuesday afternoon when he was coming back from his shop in Bahadurgarh on his scooter to his Nangloi residence. "As I was crossing theu00a0 under construction Mundka Metro station, a 12-feet-long metallic pipe fell on my head. I was wearing a helmet but it cracked and I suffered injuries on my head. Besides, as I lost control of my scooter, I fell down and suffered several injuries on both legs and other areas," he said.

Bansal was taken to the nearby Sanjay Gandhi hospital. He was treated and asked to take bed rest for a few days and come back for a check up. He received four stitches on his head and three stitches in one leg. "I was dropped at home by a driver, who claimed to be a worker of the Metro contractor for the Mundka corridor. He assured me that I would get compensation, but after that nobody has come to see me," said Bansal.
"My father had gone to the Sanjay Gandhi hospital with a policeman. They told him that the doctor who had treated me has resigned and the MLC would only be given when a new doctor joins," he added.u00a0
When contacted, a senior police official from Mundka Police station said that Amit Bansal has suffered only minor injuries. "He has given us in writing that he does not want to file a case against the contractor,' added the official from Mundka police station.
However, Amit Bansal claimed that he has not given anything in writing. "They do not want to file the case. They have not even provided me the MLC from the hospital. They are trying to hush up the matter," alleged Amit.
When contacted, a spokesperson from Delhi Metro said that the concerned contractor is regularly visiting the family. "The contractor also took him to the hospital and got him treated. The company is doing all it can. If need be, a compensation would also be paid to him. We will also pay his medical bills," said the spokesperson.
