A statement released by the chief minister's office confirmed the meeting at Varsha, the official bungalow of the chief minister in Mumbai.
Thackeray previously criticised the state government for not implementing a Supreme Court order about Marathi signboards on shops, expressing disappointment with the ruling coalition's approach to Marathi and Hindutva matters.
The Supreme Court had set a two-month deadline for shopkeepers to display Marathi signboards, which ended on November 25, and stated a penalty of Rs 2,000 per day for violators.
The issue of toll collection in Maharashtra was previously addressed by the MNS, suggesting that the party raised concerns about it.
Thackeray had claimed that the ruling coalition merely "pays lip service" to Marathi and Hindutva issues, implying a lack of genuine action on their part.
If shopkeepers fail to comply with the Supreme Court directive on Marathi signboards, they risk facing a penalty of Rs 2,000 per day, as ordered by the court.
The MNS has consistently highlighted the issue of toll collection in the state, suggesting ongoing concern and effort regarding this matter.
