Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi reached the Mulund Metro Line-4 slab collapse site on LBS Road on Saturday afternoon to oversee rescue and relief operations. Mayor Ritu Tawde, speaking to the media at the incident site in Mulund, said: "This is huge negligence. I came to know that the parapet segment was fitted here yesterday itself. Did they follow the safety norms? Traffic movement below should have been stopped for the time being. The injured have been admitted to hospital, one person has died." She added that she is looking into the matter further

The mishap occurred around 12.15 pm near pier 196, close to Mulund Fire Station and the Johnson and Johnson factory. The falling slab struck a passing autorickshaw and a Skoda car, causing heavy damage to both vehicles

One person, identified as Ramdhan Yadav, was killed in the incident. One of the injured, Rajkumar Indrajeet Yadav (45) is said to be in critical condition while the other two injured are currently in stable condition

The state government has announced immediate financial relief of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the victim of the Mulund slab collapse incident. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also said that the state will bear the entire cost of medical treatment for the three injured in the incident

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Saturday said that the Metro project team is present at the site of the pillar collapse, carrying out the relief operations in close coordination with the BMC and disaster management authorities

Four people were injured in the incident and were rushed to Upasani Hospital. The hospital operator later stated that Yadav was brought dead.
