The Lok Adalat in Maharashtra’s Thane district settled 3,07,255 cases in 2025 and awarded compensation amounting to Rs 754.85 crore, news agency PTI reported, quoting an official on Thursday.

Lok Adalats function as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, offering a faster and cost-effective way to settle disputes, both those pending in courts and matters at the pre-litigation stage, through conciliation and compromise. Awards passed by Lok Adalats carry the same legal status as decrees of a civil court.
