A fire broke out early Monday morning at Sonu Auto Parts and Garage in Kopri Cloth Market, Thane East, leaving behind a charred mess of scrap bikes, oil cans, and burnt wiring. The garage, owned by Mohammad Shakeel, went up in flames around 8 AM, with the alert being raised by a local, Ritesh Jadhav. Fortunately, no one was hurt, according to Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell.
The fire drew a swift response from various teams. Fire brigade trucks rolled in alongside a rescue vehicle, a water tanker, and a JCB machine. Officials from the Disaster Management Cell, Kopri police, MSEB, and the local fire station all pitched in to bring things under control. It took them nearly an hour to fully douse the flames.
The damage, however, was significant: six scrap two-wheelers, cupboards, racks, engine oil cans, and the entire electrical setup were reduced to ashes. While the blaze is now under control, what’s left behind is a gutted garage and a reminder of how quickly things can go up in smoke.
