Farmers staged a protest on Sunday at the Mogharpada metro rail carshed site in Thane, pressing their long-pending demands related to land acquisition for the project, news agency PTI reported.
The protesting farmers demanded immediate compensation for the land acquired by the government, proper training programmes to ensure that youth from the local area secure jobs connected with the metro rail operations, and allocation of five acres of land in the vicinity for construction of a school and a college for the benefit of the community.
