Thane: Crane overturns on Kopri Bridge; traffic hit, no injuries reported

Preliminary information suggests that the mishap was triggered by a sudden failure of one of the crane’s hydraulic landers, leading to loss of control and causing the machine to tilt to one side

A heavy hydraulic crane overturned on the Kopri flyover along the Eastern Express Highway in Thane (West) on Wednesday evening, disrupting traffic movement towards Mumbai and causing significant congestion in the area.
Crane mishap during elevated corridor work
According to the Thane Municipal Corporation control room, the incident occurred around 4:00 pm near Gnyanasadhana College. The crane (MH 43 CG 7419), owned by M/s J. Kumar Company, was engaged in construction work for the Saket elevated corridor when it lost balance and toppled.
