South Mumbai areas face 100 per cent water cut due to pipe leak

Leakage occurs in 600 mm water main pipeline on Madam Cama Road; water supply to be restored by Saturday night or Sunday morning

A few areas in Cuffe Parade and Geeta Nagar in Colaba faced a 100 per cent water cut on Friday which  will continue all day on Saturday due to a leakage in a 600 mm water main pipeline on Madam Cama Road outside the Mantralaya main gate.  In a statement on Friday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said, “A sudden leak occurred in the 600 mm diameter water pipe in front of Mantralaya Entrance No. 1 in Sector A. The repair work of this water pipe has been taken up on a war footing.”

The civic body said that amid the ongoing repair work, the water supply to some areas will be affected for 24 hours. These are: Cuffe Parade (11.30 am to 1.45 pm), GD Somani Marg (1.45 pm to 3.10 pm), Colaba Koliwada (6.30 pm to 6.50 pm) and Geeta Nagar (12.15 pm to 2.45 am).
