The Maharashtra government will organise a simultaneous mass drill of patriotic songs across all schools in the state on January 26 on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse announced on Thursday. The programme will take place in schools of all boards, mediums, and managements, following the official flag-hoisting ceremonies, and is expected to see participation from over two crore students and more than seven lakh teachers across more than one lakh schools.
Speaking to media and senior education officials via video-conference, Bhuse said the initiative, based on the ‘Nation First’ concept, aims to inspire students with patriotism, self-discipline, physical fitness, and health awareness. He directed officials to ensure students and teachers face no inconvenience and encouraged public representatives, officials, parents, villagers, and local residents to attend.
