Mumbai’s Covid-19 count stays over 8,000

But nearly 90 per cent of the cases are asymptomatic; the state logs over 12k cases while its fatalities rise to two-digit again

Mumbai reported 8,087 cases with test positivity rate (TPR) at 16 per cent on Monday. The state registered 12,160 cases on Monday out of which 10,682 were reported in the MMR including Mumbai. There were 68 Omicron infections reported in the state, of which 40 are from Mumbai and 14 from Pune city.

Of the 8,087 fresh cases in the city, 7,273 (nearly 90 per cent) are asymptomatic, 574 people are  hospitalised, of whom 71 are on oxygen support, according to the BMC. Out of 11,206 oxygen beds, 1,110 are occupied.   A total of 49,283 tests were conducted on Monday. The city’s active cases rose to 37,274. There were two deaths reported, both had comorbidities and were above the age of 60 years.
