Unmarked speed breakers on Aarey main road put motorists and wildlife at risk

Twelve speed breakers installed on the main road through Aarey Milk Colony — used by over 25,000 vehicles daily — lack proper white markings, making them nearly invisible to approaching motorists, especially at night. At least eight of the recently constructed bumps have no markings

While speed breakers have been installed to curb two-wheeler accidents on the main road in Aarey Milk Colony, under the jurisdiction of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the absence of proper markings on these traffic-calming devices is increasing the risk of mishaps. Earlier, mid-day had highlighted concerns regarding internal roads, where unmarked speed breakers, constructed by the public works department, had led to safety hazards.
