18,241 Covid patients discharged in Mumbai on Wednesday; state records 43,697 new Covid infections with 49 deaths

Mumbai recorded January’s lowest test positivity rate on Wednesday at 10 per cent, along with a marginal drop in new cases. After registering single-digit deaths on Tuesday, the city saw ten Covid fatalities during the day. As per numbers shared by the BMC, the city registered 6,032 fresh infections. Across Maharashtra, daily cases stood at 43,697 with 49 deaths.
Of the ten Coronavirus-related deaths in Mumbai, all were comorbid. While three were in the age group of 40-60, the rest were above 60. Around 84 per cent of those who tested positive on Wednesday were asymptomatic, while 538 patients were hospitalised of which 103 are in oxygen beds. The recovery rate improved to 95 per cent as 18,241 patients were discharged. The doubling rate got better and stood at 66 days.
