Mumbai rains: The seven lakes that supply drinking water to Mumbai had a water stock of 10.72 per cent, or 1,55,125 million litres, as of June 8, as against 11.06 per cent recorded on Saturday morning.

The seven lakes that supply drinking water to Mumbai had a water stock of 10.72 per cent, or 1,55,125 million litres, as of June 8, as against 11.06 per cent recorded on Saturday morning. At full capacity, the lakes hold a cumulative water content of 14,47,363 million litres. The catchment area of these lakes received a cumulative of 34 mm of rainfall on Saturday, till Sunday morning.
However, the water stock this year is still higher as compared to the water levels in these lakes on the same day in 2024, when it was recorded at 6.13 per cent, or 88,679 million litres. On the same day in 2023, the lakes held 10.90 per cent of water capacity.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) supplies 3950 million litres of drinking water to the city every day, from Upper Vaitarna, Modak Sagar, Tansa, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Vihar, and Tulsi lakes.
