The water levels in lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai have risen following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the combined stock in the seven reservoirs that provide water to the city now stands at 41.17 per cent or 5,95,876 mm on Tuesday.
Among the individual lakes, Bhatsa holds the highest stock with 2,49,771 ML, followed by Upper Vaitarna with 1,13,052 ML, and Middle Vaitarna at 86,545 ML.
Modak Sagar and Tansa currently store 68,955 ML and 62,615 ML, respectively, while the smaller lakes Vehar and Tulsi have 11,718 ML and 3,220 ML in storage. The percentage of useful content is the highest in Modak Sagar at 53.48 per cent, followed by Upper Vaitarna at 49.79 per cent, and Vehar at 42.31 per cent.
