While Bandra Railway Station celebrated its 160th year, this July brought a new issue to the western entrance of the station — pavement repair work has lasted hardly 10 days before falling apart.

The entrance, which opens to the classic brown building, had its outer pavements next to the auto stand re-done, which the authorities had said was in the interest of better movement and levelling.

The pavement work was carried out on July 12, during which many of the passengers entering the station faced difficulties walking around the work in progress. But just 10 days after the work had begun, and after new pavements were laid, commuters noticed the pavements cracking under the pressure of the thousands who take local trains from the Bandra Station.
