The long-awaited “jodi” bridges at Mulund railway station are finally taking shape and are expected to be opened for public use by March 2026. As part of the upgrade, the station is getting an elevated deck equipped with 14 staircases, seven escalators and two elevators, along with a new entrance plaza and seamless integration of all foot overbridges (FOBs). At the CSMT-end, the jodi connector bridge will link the upcoming east-west BMC bridge with a new, wider railway FOB, significantly improving cross-station movement.

“The railway FOB at the CSMT end is eight metres wide and 45 metres long, with wide staircases and decks opening directly onto platforms. Platform 1 will get a three-metre-wide staircase and a 10.5-metre-wide deck extending up to the platform edge, along with an UP escalator. Columns have been erected on Platforms 2 and 3, while Platform 4 is being connected to the public FOB on the east. This will ease peak-hour congestion, which currently forces commuters onto tracks and stairways,” a senior official said.
