Mumbai Metro Line 2A
In a decisive and very thoughtful move to enhance Mumbai’s urban mobility experience and counter congestion among commuters during peak hours. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), under the strategic guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the visionary leadership of Deputy Chief Minister and MMRDA Chairman Shri Eknath Shinde, has approved a significant service augmentation on Metro Lines 2A and 7.
This move comes in the wake of Maha Mumbai Metro’s record-breaking ridership of over 3 lakh passengers on a single day, 8th July 2025, which was a clear signal of growing commuter confidence in the metro network.
The operational upgrade is being implemented by Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), with three new trainsets deployed to support the increase. The MMMOCL has introduced 21 additional services, increasing the daily trip count from 284 to 305 services across Lines 2A and 7.
