What began as a routine traffic violation in Vikhroli turned violent after an enraged motorcyclist returned to the spot and allegedly assaulted the traffic policeman who had fined him for talking on his mobile phone while riding.

According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday at a busy junction in Vikhroli when traffic constable Chand Kashinath Gangurde, 33, noticed a motorcyclist manoeuvring through traffic while speaking on his phone — a clear violation of traffic rules. Gangurde stopped the rider, questioned him and issued an e-challan of Rs 2000 as per norms.
