In an effort to reduce overcrowding on Mumbai’s trains, the Maharashtra government has formed a special committee to study and suggest staggered office timings for government offices located in Mumbai city and suburban districts, an official notification said on Friday.

The decision follows a request by Central Railway officials, who highlighted the heavy rush of commuters during morning and evening peak hours.

According to the government notification issued on July 18, the committee will review if adjusting office start and end times can ease congestion on trains.
