Durveh Jadhav was the only child of his parents; he had ventured into a stable to get a fallen kite but slipped and fell into the pit
Durveh Jadhav lived in Prasad Society (SRA) on Link Road, Kandivli
The child entered the stable and found the kite on a pile of buffalo dung. As he leaned forward to pick it, he lost his balance and slipped into the swamp. Hearing his screams, a labourer from an adjacent construction site, Ruparel project, rushed to help. While he could manage to grab his hand, the boy slipped and sunk deep into the bovine excreta.
The police later pulled Jadhav from the pit and took him to Shatabdi Hospital but he was declared brought dead. The police said the stable has metal sheet fencing, but since the door was latched from outside without any lock, the child could easily open it. A case of accidental death has registered.
