According to the latest statistics, 2,818 employees who had tested positive for COVID-19 have completely recovered, and only nine are still under treatment. A Tele Monitoring Severity Score System has been developed under which BEST’s doctors monitor the health of COVID-19 patients through five-minute calls periodically. Sources said that this has made a positive impact on the recovery of patients.
Pulmonologist and Chief Medical Officer of BEST, Dr Anil Kumar Singal confirmed the development.

In early December last year, the International Labour Organisation (IO) had recognised BEST as the only transport organisation in India with the best health and wellness approach towards its 40,000 employees, while handling the pandemic. BEST has been working without a break since the lockdown started in March 2020.

It kept on ferrying essential workers and increased its services progressively. The official said that it would soon induct its entire fleet of 3,400 buses. The undertaking has 27 bus depots, 51 bus stations and 112 bus termini/chowkies. However, since local trains started operating, BEST has experienced a drop in the number of passengers – from 26 lakh in 4,301 buses on January 29 to 25 lakh in 4,138 buses on February 5.
