Tiles laid just three months ago on the Ghatkopar railway foot overbridge have cracked up, come loose, and pose a risk to thousands of daily commuters, especially during the rains. The station, which sees a heavy footfall from both local train and Metro passengers, has a bridge where the staircase tiles are now either broken or dangerously loose.

Work on the bridge was completed earlier this year, but even then, some patches were left incomplete and only finished after this reporter flagged the issue with the Divisional Railway Manager’s office. The renovation work was rushed and lacked basic quality checks. “The foot overbridge was renovated recently, but the design seems patchy and the quality is mediocre,” said commuter Akash Kothari. “CR may be spending funds, but is anyone tracking where it’s going?”

Another commuter called the FOB an “amusement park,” citing poor levelling that causes people to trip. “Such big bodies seem to have no inspection or quality check process. It’s laughable,” he said. Jainam Shah, a daily traveller, added, “The entire FOB is broken, multiple tiles have come off with the cement. It’s in terrible shape.”
