Three workers were rescued and one lost his life after being buried under a heap of soil during pipeline work carried out by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) near Nanded city on Monday. The trio was rescued at 6.15 pm on Monday. The fire department of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and the Pune Disaster Response Force (PDRF) successfully rescued the survivors.

The workers were at a river improvement project being carried out under a JICA initiative. While digging a large trench for pipeline installation, a sudden collapse caused the four workers to be buried under a mound of earth, according to a statement released by PMC and PMRDA.

The PMRDA officials said that the PMRDA team received the alert around 6 pm and reached the site within five to seven minutes, promptly initiating the rescue operation. Their swift action helped save the lives of three out of the four buried workers, who were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
