Voting ends in 23 Maharashtra local bodies; turnout at 47.04 pc till afternoon

Polling began at 7.30 am, and by the afternoon, 47.04 per cent of eligible voters had cast their ballots, according to the State Election Commission. Officials said the final turnout figures would be released on Sunday

Polling for the posts of presidents and members in 23 municipal councils and nagar panchayats across Maharashtra concluded at 5.30 pm on Saturday, officials said. Voting also took place for 143 vacant member posts in these local bodies, reported the PTI.

Prominent civic bodies that went to the polls included Baramati in Pune district and Ambernath in Thane district.
