After the flight landed at Mumbai international airport, Sahar police arrested the unruly passenger, Mohammed Sarfuddin Ulwar. The incident took place late Saturday night when an IndiGo flight was en route to Bengaluru from Doha, the capital city of Qatar. According to the FIR, Ulwar got drunk and started misbehaving with the crew members first. Later, he got up from his seat and started arguing with and abusing other passengers. The pilot made announcements, but he didn’t listen, forcing the emergency landing.

Police have charged him under Section 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 22A (assault, intimidate or threaten, whether physically or verbally, a crew member which may interfere with the performance of the duties of the crew member or lessens the ability of the crew member to perform those duties) and 23 (assault and other acts endangering safety or jeopardising good order and discipline) of The Aircraft Rules. The accused was on Sunday sent to police custody for a day.
