After witnessing a steady rise in daily Covid-19 numbers last week, Mumbai saw a drop in both daily positive figures as well as the test positivity rate for the third consecutive day on Monday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, the city saw 728 new Covid-19 cases, a marginal drop compared to Sunday. The city reported 28 deaths on Monday, slightly higher than the fatalities on Sunday.
After recording the lowest daily Covid-19 numbers in the second wave on June 3, Mumbai saw a rise in Covid cases earlier this week but the numbers remained below the 1,000 mark. The city however recorded a new low in test positivity rate (TPR) in the second wave so far. The TPR was 2.59%. Sunday was for the first time in the second wave that the TPR dipped below 3 and was 2.96%.
