Veteran <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/actor-satish-shah-passes-away-maharashtra-cm-devendra-fadnavis-mourns-actors-death-says-he-has-left-indelible-mark-on-indian-cinema-and-theatre-23600196" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">actor Satish Shah</a> was unresponsive when the medical team reached his residence, the hospital where the actor was shifted said in a statement on Saturday.&nbsp;
The actor has passed away at the age of 74, P.D. Hinduja Hospital &amp; Medical Research Centre in Mumbai, said.
In an official statement the hospital said that it received an emergency call earlier in the day regarding Shah&rsquo;s health. An ambulance with a medical team was immediately dispatched to his residence, where he was found unresponsive. CPR was started in the ambulance and continued upon arrival at the hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he could not be revived.
Shah, whose presence in films such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron and Main Hoon Na, and the sitcom <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/television-news/article/rajesh-kumar-sarabhai-vs-sarabhai-freedom-at-midnight-23443920" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Sarabhai vs Sarabhai</a>, brought smiles and laughter to audiences, passed away at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, on Saturday afternoon, according to Ramesh Kadatala, his personal assistant of over 30 years.
&ldquo;Shah was a beloved artist whose remarkable contribution to Indian cinema and television will always be remembered,&rdquo; the hospital said in a statement.
Condolences have been extended to his family, friends, and admirers during this difficult time, it said.
The veteran actor&nbsp;has enjoyed a prolific career spanning over four decades across film and television. A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, he began his journey in the late 1970s and quickly became one of India&rsquo;s most beloved character actors. He is best remembered for his impeccable comic timing in films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994), <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/television-news/article/karisma-kapoor-recalls-working-with-sonali-bendre-in-hum-saath-saath-hain-23301122" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Hum Saath Saath Hain</a> (1999), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), and Om Shanti Om (2007). Over the years, he has appeared in more than 200 films, often playing memorable supporting or comic roles that have become integral to Hindi cinema&rsquo;s humour landscape.
Maharashtra Chief Minister <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/sanjay-raut-slams-fadnavis-over-rising-crimes-against-women-says-maharashtra-home-department-insensitive-and-failing-on-law-and-order-23600178" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Devendra Fadnavis</a> on Saturday paid tribute to veteran actor Satish Shah, describing him as a versatile artist who left an indelible mark on Indian cinema and theatre.
In his condolence message, CM Fadnavis said,&nbsp;&ldquo;Through his natural and graceful performances, he carved a permanent place in the hearts of audiences.
Shah earned widespread acclaim for his work across films, theatre, and television. From comedy and light-hearted entertainment to serious character roles, he displayed remarkable range and depth as an actor, CM Fadnavis said.
The Chief Minister added that Shah, who had also appeared in films by the late Dada Kondke, played a pivotal role in enriching <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-marathi-language-state-song-to-be-compulsory-in-all-schools-says-state-school-education-minister-dadaji-bhuse-23597995" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Marathi</a> cinema. &ldquo;His demise is a great loss to the world of art. A guiding link that connected generations of artists has been severed.
