Two more lives lost to trespassing

Incident oneIn the first incident that took place around 4.30 pm, an unidentified 60-year-old man and an eight-year-old girl were knocked down by an Ambarnath-CST local while crossing tracks between Kanjurmarg and Vikhroli. Officials from the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Kurla confirmed that both the victims succumbed to their injuries. The two were crossing tracks when they were hit by the speeding train, said a GRP officer at Kurla station. Whether the deceased were related to each other is yet to be established, stated the officer.Incident twoIn the second mishap, a train at Vikhroli station hit a 22-year-old youth while he was walking on the edge of the platform, injuring his arms and legs. After being administered first aid at the station, he was rushed to the Rajawadi Hospital for further treatment. This incident occurred at around 6.15pm. While transporting him to the hospital, we discovered that he was drunk, said Central Railway (CR) officials, who are yet to establish the victim's identity. Incident threeIn the third accident that occurred on Ghatkopar-Vikhroli section, a speeding CST-Ambarnath local train hit another 60-year-old man. Sources said that he senior citizen has sustained grievous head injuries and is currently recuperating at Rajawadi Hospital. OfficialspeakThe station manager of Vikhroli arranged for ambulances and alerted GRP personnel to ensure speedy assistance to the injured. Time and again, we have been appealing to the public to avoid trespassing and use FOBs, said V Malegaonkar, chief PRO, CR.
