It was certainly a first for the power loom town of Bhiwandi and a memory that will not be erased in a hurry.

The cricket ground at Bhiwandi was scorched by four sexy Russian cheerleaders on the final day of the seven-day district-level cricket tournament on Sunday.
Grins Salim Khan (name changed), who went for the finals, "Arre, it was great! I have never seen anything like it. We never expected it in a lousy area like Bhiwandi. They were really entertaining."u00a0
Watching the spectacle were celebrities like Murali Karthik, Bappi Lahiri, Bhiwandi mayor Javed Dalvi and NCP leader Ganesh Naik, apart from officials from the local police station.
Yet, the next day, the police filed a case against the organiser of the match, Arun Patil, son of NCP leader R C Patil, for organising the match and bringing in the cheerleaders without the requisite performance licence or permission from the police under the Bombay Police Act.
Ankush Shinde, deputy commissioner of police, Bhiwandi, said, "The police did not know that there would be cheerleaders and it was necessary for them to take permission. We are also verifying whether the four girls are registered with the passport office." Said a cricket fan, "The police acted on the case when we told them the girls had no permission to perform."
R C Patil, however, denied a case was registered, "It was just a function, and I have nothing to do with it. Only the foundation is named after me."
