The meeting took place at state Congress office 'Tilak Bhawan' in central Mumbai, an associate of Rane said. However, the details of the meeting were not known.
Rane had recently met senior Congress leader AK Antony, in-charge of Maharashtra affairs, in Delhi to explain his position and later told newsmen that he wanted to stay in the Congress.
