At 4 am, the woman cop, attached with Shivaji Park police station, had been patrolling at Dadar chowpatty while Ganpati immersions were on. She noticed that the group of three men, later identified as Santosh Godar, Vinod Pharsi and Gajanand Pakade had been misbehaving and creating nuisance on the street near the beach.

When she tried to intervene and question their behaviour, the trio used profane language with the cop and held her by the collar.

They then argued with her and misbehaved upon being asked to come to the police station,” a police officer said.

Booked for misbehaviour
“Additional police personnel were called in and the trio was brought to the Shivaji Park police station. They have been booked under sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. Reports are awaited to know if they were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident,” said a police official from Shivaji Park police station.
