On May 30, we put the spotlight on the Mulund dumping ground bursting at the seams, footpaths being overrun by hawkers as well as poorly maintained and encroached playgrounds.

Residents say no action was taken on their complaints. They allege that garbage continues to choke the landfill, hawkers have taken over larger swathes of pavements, and a large number of playgrounds have been turned into parking lots. During the monsoon, the rotting piles of garbage at the Mulund landfill sent locals in the vicinity running for cover.
