A spectacle called death

Death can be quite a crowd-puller, as is evident from this picture captured by MiD DAY lensman Rane Ashish on the Western Express Highway yesterday morning.

Annabelle Freitas (39) was crushed to death when her Italiano Blaze two-wheeler was hit by a speeding dumpster.

Freitas, who worked for UTI Mutual Funds, was on her way to work when the incident took place near Hotel Sahara Star.

Ironically, Annabelle was wearing a helmet, which was flung into the air because of the impact.

"Annabelle was very particular about traffic rules and would ride her bike only after wearing her helmet," said her sister Maryann Noronha (45).
