As many as 350 volunteers have been sacked from one of Mumbai’s oldest Shiva temples — Babulnath mandir — just a few days before the Mahashivratri celebrations.
Sachin Shetty, a volunteer and an eatery owner in south Mumbai, said, “We have been managing the affairs during festivals and in the holy month of Shravan. We are hurt and upset. Never have we asked for a single penny, we have paid for expenses out of our pockets. After serving for 25 years, we are told by the new trustee Pradip Shroff that he does not need us. We do not know what went wrong.”
