At least 12 people were injured, four seriously, after 14 vehicles travelling to Mumbai from Thane crashed into a speeding truck on Ghodbunder Road on Friday morning. While the truck driver fled immediately after the collision, the police believe he was not at fault and that the automobile drivers were in the wrong lane. The Thane-based Kasarvadavli police will register an FIR against the errant motorists as well as the truck driver who took to his heels without helping the injured.
According to the police, around 7 pm, around 14 vehicles, including two autorickshaws and an electric car, entered the wrong lane near Gaimukh, inadvertently entering the path of the speeding Thane-bound truck. After the latter traversed a sharp curve at the Gaimukh Gaon junction, the multi-vehicle crash occurred.
