Mumbaikars react defiantly
After Mumbai's first swine flu death various quarters of the government have been warning people to stay away from heavily crowded places and to avoid going outdoors as much as possible. The general reaction seems to be that people cannot avoid going outdoors and will watch out for symptoms of the swine flu such as cold, cough, fever and body ache.

Clarence Lowden (26), "I cannot stop going outdoors and socialising as it is an essential part of my life. Why couldn't the government be more proactive in screening the entry of swine flu into the country? They knew about this many months ago and could've done a better job in containing the disease. I don't trust that the government is equipped to handle the situation."
Darryl Neves (42), proprietor, Fast Forward Dance Studios, "I cannot afford to cut myself from the outside world. How long am I going to stay at home? If I do have any signs of the flu I will go for a check-up. I will continue with life as it comes. I believe the more you stay indoors and the more negative you think, the more likely you are to catch the disease."
Mridul Limaye (12) student said, "I will carry on with my life as usual. I have exams coming up so I will be at home most of the time, but I will definitely take a break for sometime and go out."

Alastair Quadros (25), proprietor, Barsync company, said, "I will stay away from as many public places as I can stay away from. We can do small things to keep the disease at bay for example if someone at work is ill someone should they should report it to the higher management and care must be taken to treat the person well as well as keep other employees safe."
Rachita Dhotkar (25) assistant manger and nutritionist of a health firm said, "I work even on Sundays so I can't avoid out on weekends especially crowded places. My work also involves a lot of traveling by local trains. I have no choice and will carry on with life as normal
