A woman tarot card reader was allegedly extorted of Rs 2 lakh after being called to a bungalow in Aarey Colony under the pretext of conducting a fortune-reading session. According to police, a group of individuals called her to a location in the Aarey Colony area and introduced themselves as police officers and officials from the Crime Branch.

They then threatened the woman with false allegations of involvement in drug trafficking and demanded money to avoid legal action, said police. Fearing arrest and harassment, the woman reportedly paid Rs 2 lakh to the impostors. Based on her complaint, Aarey police have registered a case of extortion and impersonation. One accused held, a search is on to trace others.
