The Dahisar police have arrested a women’s gang involved in pickpocketing during the festive season. The accused used to take advantage of crowded markets and shops to steal cash and jewellery from women’s purses. The police said that a theft had been reported at a saree shop in Dahisar, by complainant Vaishali Satish Chavan, 45, a resident of Mira Road. She had said that when she was buying a saree at the shop on April 9, between 8 pm and 8 pm, three unidentified women had crowded around her and she realised later that her purse with Rs 18,000 cash and her Aadhaar card had been stolen.
