Cops say accused gave written undertaking to victims, promising to return money, gold ornaments after selling his land, in bid to gain their trust

A 58-year-old doctor from Mulund West is among four women allegedly duped of Rs 9.5 lakh by a man who worked as a cook. According to the police, the doctor, a resident of a housing society on LBS Road, along with three other women, approached the Mulund police station on Thursday to file an FIR against the accused, identified as Satish Baghuram More, 30, a resident of Ambivli near Kalyan.
According to the complaint, the accused was introduced to the woman doctor in December 2023 as a cook. “He was hired as a cook, but he was quite infrequent. He would disappear randomly and turn his phone off. It was impossible to reach him,” the complainant said, who requested anonymity.
