Maharashtra: Man held with mephedrone worth Rs 1.69 crore in Mumbra

One person was arrested allegedly with mephedrone worth Rs 1.69 crore near Mumbra bypass in Thane district of Maharashtra, a police official said on Monday, reported the PTI.

Mohanlal Gunshji Joshi alias Sharma (55) was held on July 18 after a car was intercepted on a specific tip-off, Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amarsingh Jadhav said, according to the PTI.

"The operation was carried out by Crime Branch Phase I personnel. Sharma is a resident of Palghar district. We seized mephedrone worth Rs 1.69 crore. A case was registered at Mumbra police station under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further probe into the peddling racket is underway," Jadhav said, the news agency reported on Monday.
