The Valiv police immediately filed a revision petition in the sessions court in Vasai after the lower court granted magisterial custody remand (MCR) to Rohit Yadav, the man who allegedly killed 20-year-old Aarti with an industrial wrench on Tuesday. Additional Sessions Judge Jayendra C Jagdale heard the plea and overturned the lower court’s decision, sending Rohit to police custody for five days.

Rohit was presented before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate GJ Srisundar to seek police custody. However, despite lengthy discussions, the lower court was not convinced about granting custody to the police.
