South African man jailed for raping 3-year-old girl with live snake

A man from Bloemfontein has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for raping a 3-year-old girl with a live snake.

Regional Magistrate Jan Greyvenstein said that the man, called Jozana, had presided over almost 2000 sexual crimes cases but this was a first.

“What goes on in a person’s head to do something like this is something I can’t understand. This kind of offence is something no sensible person could justify,” the report quoted the magistrate as saying.

Court transcripts indicated that Jozana had gone to the house of the the three-year-old victim on October 31st.

He had tried to sell the snake to the residents of the house but had been turned down.

He then waited until the residents were out of sight, took the child to a secluded place and raped her with the snake.u00a0
