Khajoor
Commonly used in Mumbai lingo, the term ‘khajoor’ means ‘an idiot’. Although I am not aware of the connection with the actual dry fruit, I’d like to think it has to do something with the shrivelled up exterior and the jarring hard seed that one finds inside the dates. An ideal way to use it nowadays would be if you see someone not wearing a face mask, you can yell at them, “Aye khajoor! Wear a mask.”
